Ratnavali Shakti Peeth (Anandamayee Temple), Hooghly

Ratnavali Shakti Peeth, also known as Anandamayee Temple, is one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas in India. The temple stands at Khanakul-Krishnanagar on the banks of the Ratnakar River in Hooghly, West Bengal. According to Hindu belief, Goddess Sati’s right shoulder fell at this sacred site. Devotees worship the Goddess here as Maa Kumari, while Lord Shiva is worshipped as Bhairav Ghanteshwar.

According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Sati sacrificed herself during King Daksha’s yajna. Afterward, Lord Shiva carried her body across the universe in deep sorrow. To restore cosmic balance, Lord Vishnu released the Sudarshan Chakra, which divided Sati’s body into 51 parts. As a result, the sacred Shakti Peethas came into existence across the Indian subcontinent.

Today, Ratnavali Shakti Peeth welcomes thousands of devotees throughout the year. Moreover, the temple becomes especially vibrant during Durga Puja, Navaratri, Mahashivratri, and Diwali.
