Kumbh Mela Nasik Maharashtra 2027
The Nashik Kumbh Mela, held once every 12 years, is one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings. The next celebration will take place between 31 October 2026 and 24 July 2028 in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra. The festival’s highlight includes the arrival of Akharas—groups of saints, sadhus, and ascetics—who parade with chants, drums, and vibrant processions, creating a divine and unforgettable spectacle.
The history of the Kumbh Mela is rooted in ancient Hindu mythology, specifically the legend of the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) where drops of the Amrit (nectar of immortality) fell at four sacred sites: Haridwar, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Nashik, and Ujjain. These events are mentioned in ancient texts like the Mahabharata and Vishnu Purana.
