Dakshineswar Temple, This beautiful temple complex is set against the tranquil backdrop of the Hooghly River, which is situated beyond the borders of Kolkata. It was built by the kind and visionary Rani Rashmoni who had opened this temple for all communities to pray together. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali and the exquisite architecture of Bengal can be seen through the symmetrical structure, tall spires, detailed carvings, and colorful motifs of the temple.

History of Dakshineswar Kali Temple
At the onset of the nineteenth century, Dakshineswar was just another tranquil village located by the river side. Impressed by a divine dream that she had while on a pilgrimage, Queen Rani Rashmoni established the renowned Dakshineswar Kali Mandir in 1847-1855 in a demonstration of peace and unity among religions.
It is built following the Nava-ratna architectural design, featuring nine spires and housing Goddess Bhavatarini with Lord Shiva at her feet. It comprises of 12 Shiva temples, Radha-Kanta Temple, and a serene Panchavati garden, where Ramakrishna Paramahansa practiced meditation.
