Baba Taraknath Temple, also known as Tarakeswar Temple, is one of the most revered Lord Shiva temples in West Bengal. Located in Tarakeswar, Hooghly district, about 60 km from Kolkata, this 300-year-old temple was built in 1729 by Raja Bharamalla. According to legend, Lord Shiva appeared in the king’s dream and revealed the location of a self-manifested (Swayambhu) Shiva Linga, leading to the construction of this sacred shrine.
The temple is built in the traditional Atchala style of Bengal architecture and features a Natmandir (prayer hall), along with nearby shrines of Goddess Kali and Lakshmi Narayan. The sacred Dudhpukur pond is believed to have spiritual significance, and many devotees take a holy dip before offering prayers.

Baba Taraknath is worshipped as a powerful form of Lord Shiva who blesses devotees with good health, peace, prosperity, and spiritual strength.
