Kapil Muni Temple Gangasagar

The Legend of Kapil Muni
King Sagar’s 60,000 sons were turned to ashes by Sage Kapil Muni after they disturbed his meditation while searching for a sacred horse. Generations later, King Bhagirath brought the Ganges River to Earth to free their souls. The river was named Bhagirathi, and the place where it meets the sea became Gangasagar (Sagar Island) β€” a site believed to wash away sins and grant peace.

Kapil Muni Ashram
Situated at the confluence of the Ganges and Bay of Bengal, the Kapil Muni Ashram houses idols of Kapil Muni, Maa Ganga, and King Sagar. Thousands visit this sacred temple, especially during Makar Sankranti, to seek blessings.
