The best way to reach Gangasagar from Kolkata is via Diamond Harbour Road, about 90 km from Esplanade to Harwood Point near Kakdwip. Park your car at the Panchayat Samity parking area near Lot No. 8 ferry point for a small fee, then walk to the ferry ghat. Ferries to Kachuberia on Sagar Island run every 45 minutes, costing about Rs. 8 per person and taking 30–45 minutes. From Kachuberia, hire a private jeep or car for around Rs. 2,000 (round trip) to reach the pilgrimage site, where the Kapil Muni Temple is 200 meters away and the Gangasagar confluence about 700 meters. Platform rickshaws are available for around Rs. 250 per group of up to eight people.

Morning pickup from South Kolkata, Howrah, Sealdah, or Esplanade Bus Stand and transfer by private vehicle to Diamond Harbour Jetty, Lot No. 8 Harwood Point Jetty, or Namkhana Jetty. Upon arrival, you will receive private ferry tickets to cross the Muriganga River to Gangasagar Island Jetty. After reaching the island, a private vehicle will take you to Kapil Muni Ashram for darshan. In the evening, return to Kolkata following the same route.
